Donald Lee Hamrick, of Jackson County, went home to be with the Lord at a local hospital, on Monday, December 30, 2019. He was born in Hazard County, KY to the late Lynn and Marie Brumlow Hamrick. Also preceding him in death were his twin brother, Ronald, his brothers, Charles and Sam; sisters, Micki and Norma; three step sons, Stan Gilbert, Joseph “Putt” Shultz and Ronald “Rob” Shultz. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherry Lee Hamrick, one son Roger; a niece Elaine Pendergrass, and one grandson, Austin. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his “best buddy” Linda McMicken, and devoted friends Reginald Day and Sharon Toups. A most special friend, Patricia Amis was at his side to give him his last nourishment. Don served in the U.S.A.F and retired as an underground construction foreman for Sullivan Long and Haggerty of Alabama. He loved his Christian brothers and sisters at Escatawpa Baptist Church where he was a longtime member. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fish in the rivers and canals around Jackson County, only to give his catch away to anyone he met along the way home. He was a caring and loving man, always generous with his time and talents. A memorial service will be celebrated at Escatawpa Baptist Church on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 3:30 PM in the Family Life Center. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Escatawpa Baptist Church.
