Susan K. Matthews, 72 years old of Twin Lakes, WI passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. She was born July 15, 1943 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Glendon and Harriett (Gray) Eckert.
On March 27, 1965 she married Donn Matthews at the Wilmot United Methodist Church. They lived in Trevor, WI and Silver Lake, WI before settling in Twin Lakes in 2003. She worked at the Great Lakes Naval Base from 1983-2006 as a printing specialist and was proud to be an Honorary Plank-Owner of the U.S.S. Chief MCM-14. She loved to help others and used her superb organizational skills to make many contributions in the community. As a member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church she was a Trustee, served on many committees and participated in church activities. Sue was a former member of the Trevor Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed participating as an exhibitor at the Kenosha County Fair. Her other interests included cooking, baking, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donn; her daughter, Malena (Thomas) Koplin of Brookfield, WI; sisters, Glenna (the late Andrew) Kisner and Kathy Eckert, both of Twin Lakes; and niece and nephews, Kirk Kisner, Tal Kisner, Shane Kisner, Kristine Scimeca, Thomas Kaufmann and their families.
A memorial visitation will be from 1-3PM Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Strang Funeral Home. A memorial service will commence at 3 pm Saturday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Wilmot, WI 53192, a Veteran’s organization of your choice, or the Trevor Vol. Fire Department Association, in Sue’s memory.
