Mr. Edwards was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1957. He had worked for Smart Chevrolet, Woolley-Gandy Motors and AF Edwards Oil Company and in 1985, he opened Money Mart Pawn Shop.
He loved to race cars, he loved fast cars, go to the Casino, loved going to the VFW dance every Saturday night, and he loved Elvis.
Don loved the finer things in life. He was an avid car collector. He liked to go fast and race all of his cars. He enjoyed weekend casino trips, spending time with his grandchildren each week and working daily at his pawn shop. Don was a model businessman and mentor for many in the pawn business. He was a self-made successful entrepreneur who loved Pine Bluff and its people. He lived for entertaining everyone with his jokes and stories.
He was a former member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Denise Edwards.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Lee (Chris) of Counce, Tennessee, son, Erik Edwards (Shilene) of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Ashleigh Pierce of Bryant and Jordyn Lee of Counce, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Colton, Conner and Camden, all of Pine Bluff and Tynleigh of Bryant and his longtime companion, Diane Bradshaw of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2016, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Shawn Cuthbertson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
