Sarah Irene Pope Luke "Nikki", 70 of O'Brien, passed away Jan 18, 2014 at Shands of UF in Gainesville. She was born in Seffner, FL in July of 1943 to the late London & Sarah (Blalock) Pope and moved to this area from Antioch, FL in 1978.
She was a Southern Baptist and was a telephone operator for General Telephone. Mrs. Luke enjoyed personalizing Loretta Lynn songs with her family's name. She was a cheer-leading coach for 2 years and a volunteer reporter for the Plant City Currier for 3 years. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting and swimming. With all her accomplishments in life, her family brought her the most pride and enjoyment.
She is survived by her sons, London "Lonnie" Chapman of Tampa, Lelan Charles Chapman of NC, Payton Wayne (Amy) Chapman of Waxhaw, NC; siblings, George, James, Marjorie, and Jessie; 3 grandchildren, Cati Jo Chapman Thompson, Dwayne & Michael Chapman and her former husband, Ray Vernon Lyle of Tampa.
A memorial service will be Friday, Jan 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Chiefland with Rev. Gordon Keller officiating.
