TRAVIS JACKSON TAYLOR, 91, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was a member of Galatia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee for many years. He lived a life doing what he loved, farming. Raising peanuts, cotton, corn and soybeans, he became known especially for his watermelons and earned the title “The Watermelon Man”.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter Troy Taylor and Ruby Smith Taylor; his brothers, Dalton Taylor, Harold Taylor and Marion Taylor and his “sister” Jewell G. Glover.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha Davis Taylor; children, Floyd T. Taylor (Mona), Berta T. Hines (Richard), Charles J. Taylor and Beth T. Duhadaway; grandchildren, Kameron Labate (Michael), Eliza Harrell (Brandon), Allen Taylor (fiancée Mindy), Kristin Herrold (Gabe), Emma Collins (Tim), Lucas Taylor (girlfriend Kelly), Ronnie Taylor, Sydney Taylor (boyfriend Ben), Kevin Taylor; great-grandchildren, Matthew Herrold, Jessica Herrold, Mason Harrell, Aydelynn Collins, Davis Harrell, Connor Labate, Seamus Collins, Giada Labate; sisters-in-law Ava Taylor and Janet Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be held at Galatia Baptist Church on Thursday, April 14th at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Foster and Rev. Michael Labate presiding. Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
