Charles D. Hamm, age 77, of Lake Park, GA. passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Langdale Hospice in Valdosta, GA. following a brief illness.

Charles was born in Berrien County on November 28, 1938 to the late William C. and Cora Belle Nash Hamm. He met and married Gloria O’Cain some sixty years ago. They two worked hand in hand for over 42 years as owner and operators of Jasper Hardware.

Mr. Hamm worked diligently to serve the local and surrounding area contractors. He saw and met the needs of the community in all three phases of the store. His reputation was that of a true businessman and is remembered fondly for his fair and unwavering dedication to the community builders, farmers and outdoorsmen.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William C. Hamm II and Tony R. Hamm.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gloria O’Cain Hamm, Lake Park, GA.; his son, William Thomas “Tommy” Hamm and daughter-in-law Nan of Jennings, FL.; two daughters, Christina “Cricket” Johnson and her husband Steven of Maryville, Tennessee and Rebecca “Becky” Kindoll and her husband Shawn of Lake Park, GA.; two brothers, Jerry Hamm, Jacksonville, FL. and Joey Hamm and his wife Debbie of Live Oak, FL.; two sisters, Mary Belle Wilson and her husband A.J., Cordele, Ga. and Jo Ann Laseter and her husband William C. “Billy” of Jennings, FL.; a sister-in-law, Brenda Hamm, Bainbridge, Ga.; seven grandchildren, William Thomas “Tommy” Hamm II and his wife Abby, Lesley Richard and her husband Jason, Emily Murphy and her husband Alex, Hunter Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Spencer Johnson and Charlton Cooper Kindoll; two great grandchildren, John Brooks Hamm and William Asa Hamm. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Not to be forgotten are his many faithful former and current employees.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 between the hours of 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL.
