A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel with Pastor Theresa Mason officiating.

A. Dale Sweet, 83, of Grand Island, KØOEB went silent key at Edgewood Vista Memory Care Home Saturday, April 16, 2016.

Dale was born on July 2, 1932 in Grand Island to Clarence and M. Maydean (Douglas) Sweet. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in1951. He worked for various companies including CE Brown Auto Supply, Central Radio, and Chapman Farm Equipment as a TV repairman.

He was united on marriage to Olga A. Petersen on June 4, 1952, at the First Christian Church in Mankato, KS. The couple made their home in Grand Island and raised their family. Dale continued his love of working with and fixing electronics as he worked at Midwest Communications and owned his own business S & S TV and Appliance. With Olga and son Karl, he operated an antique shop called the General Store.

Dale had a passion for electronics. He was innovative in solving problems; building Grand Island’s first tornado warning system with equipment obtained though MARS. He was a licensed HAM radio operator and a member of the American Radio Relay League. Dale had an extensive woodworking shop and enjoyed making many things including furniture. He and the family also enjoyed many summer camping trips. He will be remembered as a wonderful and gentle person.

Dale is survived by his wife: Olga A. Sweet of Grand Island; children: Charles (Nancy) Sweet of Tyler, TX, John Sweet of Barstow, CA, Karl (Vicki Wysocki) Sweet of Grand Island, Suanne Sweet Davis of Grand Island; son-in-law: Michael Davis of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Joe Petersen of Shawnee, KS; and nephew: Mark Hubner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Dorothy (Ervin) Hubner; great grandsons: Freedom Michael and Devin Issac.
