Obituary for Stephanie Lee Land
Stephanie Lee Land went to be with her heavenly Father on April 16, 2016, after losing a battle to esophageal cancer. Stephanie, born November 21, 1951 was graduate of South Cobb High School and West Georgia College. She graduated with a degree in Education and taught in the both Georgia and Florida for 31 years at the Middle School level, including Pine Mountain and Smitha Middle School.
Stephanie was a daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend to so many. She never met a stranger, was kind and generous to a fault. She had a vivacious personality that lit up a room when she walked in.
Stephanie was the middle child of Ann Martin and Robert Jefferson Land Sr, both deceased.
Stephanie is survived by her siblings Susan Land Wright, Sherri Land Sallinger and Robert Jefferson Land. Her nieces include Jessica Sallinger Cole, Ashley Wright, Megann Sallinger, Erica Land, Haley Land and nephew Bobby Land.
The family will receive guests at Mayes-Ward in Marietta on Wednesday, April 20th, from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. A celebration of Stephanie’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m in the Mayes Ward Chapel.

"Our families grew up together in Austell. Whether it was parties in the home or fishing trips to Tallulah River, or Clarkdale swimming pool-- we had fun. I will never forget Stephanie's 12th Birthday party. It was a girlfriend spend the night party at her home. Unfortunately, it was the same day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX. We got the news earlier in the day in our 7th grade classroom and were taken to the gym to watch. Stephanie's party was not canceled but it was not the usual listening to 45's, dancing, acting crazy as we usually did. We were all glued to the TV watching the events of the day unfold--as I'm sure all Americans were. What a somber weekend. I will always remember Stephanie's deep, throaty laugh, her big smile and how she lit up the room when she walked in. Never too serious and always fun.Thanks for the memories, my friend.
