A daughter of the late John and Cynthia Cantrell Curtis, she was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas L. Ward of East Lake and Garl Eldon Ward of Lucasville; six daughters, Avanelle Nichols, Kathleen Seeley and Doris Flowers, all of Portsmouth, Opal Keaton of Left Hand, WV, Shirley Wheeler of Minford and Sue Parker of Lincoln Park, MI; a brother, Thomas Curtis of Mt. Gilead; 47 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by he first husband, Charles Dee Ward in 1960 and Elbert G. Palmer in 1973; two sons, Truman Ward and Paul Ward and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Fraley.
