“Nebraska City, Neb. - Darrell LeRoy Lane, 73, of Otoe, died at Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City on July 30, 2010. He was born Jan. 28, 1937 in York to John and Blossom (Barton) Lane. He married Marilyn Farwell July 17, 1972 at St. Francis, Kan. He is survived by wife Marilyn Lane of Otoe; children Penny Lane of Syracuse, Dakota Lane of Otoe and Darby Lane of Clay Center, Kan.; six grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded by brother John Lane. He was a good father and an avid Husker football fan. Memorial services are at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Father Matthew Rolling officiating. A memorial fund has been established. There will be no viewing or visitations. Messages of condolence may be emailed to [email protected]. While a pre-teen youngster, Darrell was blinded in an accident. His father John M. Lane was blinded in the same accident. (1949 - see attached newspaper article)

Towards the end of Darrell's life he discovered that John M. Lane may not have been his biological father. Before his passing, Darrell said that his biological father was a man named Lester Fallen.
