A five-year-old Marienville child died Friday afternoon in the Kane Summit Hospital of burns suffered while playing near the stove of her home.
Myrtle Stahlman, daughter of Raymond and Ruby Hutchins Stahlman of Marienville, died at 3:55 p. m. of second and third degree burns and shock. The deputy coroner of McKean county issued a certificate of accidental death.
The child is reported to have been playing in front of the fire and in some manner her dress became ignited. Aware of her plight, she dashed after her mother, who had left the residence a short time before, and ran half a block before collapsing.
She was born November 26, 1945.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by six sisters.
The body was taken to the McDonald Funeral Home, Marienville. Burial was in Baxter, Jefferson county.
