Along with his son Doug who died in December, Dennis D. Spencer is now riding his bicycle on the streets paved in gold in the kingdom our Lord God has made for us. Appearing a picture of health, Dennis passed in his sleep of natural causes on Saturday April 16, 2016 at his home in Chester.

71 years old, Dennis was born in East Liverpool on February 16, 1945. His mother, Eldora Smoot Mosser survives in Chester, and his father, Jedi D. Spencer preceded him in death.

Dennis loved to ride his bicycle and he could be considered an avid cyclist. He favored rails to trails and was especially fond of the Greenway Trail between Lisbon and Leetonia.

A veteran of the US Air Force, he served his country well in Vietnam during the conflict there.

Dennis was a member of the last graduating class of the former Chester High School, class of 1963.

He retired from the AT&T telephone company in New Orleans in 1997. He began as a repairman with Ohio Bell in East Liverpool 30 years prior. Dennis was a former member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Dept. and many years ago was a patrolman with the Chester Police Dept.

As mentioned earlier, Dennis was preceded in death by his step-son, Douglas Paul Pope on December 20, 2015, by his sister Kerrie Wood in 1978 and in addition to his father, Jedi.

Happily married to his high school classmate, Debbie Kimble Spencer, she is deeply saddened by his loss. Also left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Arbour and husband Paul of Alexandria, LA; his sister, Terri Perron and husband Tim of Newell, three grandchildren, Kate, Cole, and Carson and one great grandson, Emmit.

Due to the fact that we are abiding by Dennis's wishes that no services be held, it has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Friends of the Park-Greenway Trail, @130 W. Maple St., Lisbon, OH 44432.
