Mark E. Kirchner, 60, of Butlerville, passed away on August 21, 2015, at his residence.

Born January 5, 1955, in Jennings County, Mark was the son of Clarence and Helen (Matern) Kirchner. He was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School.

Mark retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where he was employed in boiler maintenance. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Mary's Men's Choir. He volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and helped coach the Jennings County High School track team. He enjoyed running, bicycling, basketball, painting and helping others.

Survivors include eight brothers, Robert (Gerri), John (Emily), Joseph (Marylyn), Michael, Stephen (Karen), Andrew (Jeanie) and Patrick(Sandi) Kirchner, all of North Vernon, and Paul (Patricia) Kirchner of Seymour; and nine sisters, Jane Kirchner, Catherine (Albert) Capes, Ladonna (Bobby) Green, Ruth (Dan) Norris and Jeanette (Todd) Firsich, all of North Vernon, Margaret (Chuck) Carson of Elizabethtown, Dorothy (Rick) Palmer of Martinsville, Joanne (David) Skelly of Indianapolis and Mary Such of Roseville, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, and visitation will follow from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
