Michael Perry McClanahan

August 5, 1957 - April 13, 2016

Michael Perry McClanahan, 58, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Aaron Charles and Lillie Mae (Collins) McClanahan Sr., he was born August 5, 1957 in Sperry, Missouri. On April 17, 1980 in Hurdland, Missouri, Michael was united in marriage to Jeanie Culler.

Michael is survived by his wife Jeanie of thirty-six years; his daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Jeff Baird of Novinger, MO; two brothers and a sister-in-law Charlie and Elizabeth McClanahan of Millard, MO and Clyde McClanahan of Columbia, MO; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Coleene and Leon Johnson of Hallsville, MO, Margaret and Harold Quint of Kirksville, MO, Barbara and James Smith of Tallahassee, FL, and Leisa and Mike Jones of Livonia, MO; step-sister, Coleene Cox of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Dake Bradley and Lexi Baird; numerous nieces and nephews, and his very special black cocker spaniel, Emerson Lee McClanahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Randy Johnson and Rick Johnson.

Michael received his education in the Kirksville public schools. He then served in the United States Marine Corp and after being honorably discharged returned home and worked for Esterline Motors several years. Michael was employed seventeen years at Florsheim Shoe Factory until attending and receiving his HVAC Certificate in 2001. He last owned and operated his own businesses, McClanahan Heating & Cooling, L.L.C. and McClanahan Property Rentals, L.L.C. in Hurdland.

Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting with his grandson, and loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered by being the McClanahan family jokester and entertainer.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville with Glen Moots presiding. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Refuge Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John McCarty, Kris McCarty, Kevin Whittom, Tom Boatman, Randall Shahan and Troy Sizemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Green, Mike Baird, Kevin Barid, and Randy Craig.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his wife Jeanie McClanahan. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
