William Helton

William R. Helton SR., 66 of Stoney Fork, KY, passed from this life on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Barbourville Nursing and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. William was born September 20, 1949 to the late Wilburn and Bessie Cleaver Helton. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by a step son Tommy Boyd, sister Nita Stewart, and a special aunt, Ethel Clark. He was a retired employee of the Black Mountain Water Co. and had served 15 years with the Harlan National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Erma Looney Helton; his children, Rhonda Helton Lambert (Claude) of Richland, VA; and William R. Helton JR. (Joyce) of Detroit Michigan; sister Cathy Paige (Sam) of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Justin and Shane Boyd, Clay and Conner Lambert; niece and nephew, Ashley and Harry Page; Aunts and uncles, David and Wayne Cleaver, Martha and Hilda Cleaver; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 2 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Gross officiating. Following the funeral service burial will be held at the Sandhill Cemetery with military rights by the Harlan Honor Guard. Claude Lambert, Sam Page, Bruce Cleaver, Wayne Cleaver, Russell Brown, and Leman Baker will serve as pallbearers.
