Jim, 75, passed away at his home in Del Mar, CA. Born to Merrill and Sybol Blankenship Munson, he was a longtime resident and business leader in Modesto until retiring to Del Mar in the 1990s. Jim attended Enslen School, Roosevelt Junior High, Downey High School, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and served in the Army. Jim started his career as a teller at Modesto Savings and Loan before founding what would become one of the largest mortgage banking firms in California, First California Mortgage Company. His dedication to integrity in lending was a cornerstone of his career. He was active in the Modesto Rotary. Jim is survived by his wife, Louise Crosby Munson, son Lee Munson of Albuquerque, NM, brother Bradford Munson of Modesto, CA and brother Douglas Munson of Naples, FL, granddaughter Zoë Munson, and grandson Weston Munson, nephew Tom Munson and niece Chris Munson.
Viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson, CA. The family wishes to thank Ray Rifenburg for his longtime friendship to Jim and support during his final year.
