Ruth was born March 29th in Bentonsport, Iowa to James and Lilly (Warner) Syfert.
She married George T. Stansbery on January 15, 1936.
She went on to work at various places in her life, including Grant School in the cafeteria, Stamatts as a housekeeper, at Crovac Manu, and finally in housekeeping at the Cedar Rapids Airport where she retired from. While working at the airport she was awarded the airport’s quarterly incentive award from 250 airport employees. This award recognizes airport employees who make an outstanding contribution toward filling airport objectives. She was praised for her personable manner with employees and the traveling public.
She enjoyed her family and everyone around her. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who passed in 1994, her son Duane Stansbery, her brothers Martin, Harold, and Glen, her sisters Rita Jeffrey and Kathryn Beer, her daughter-in-law Joan Stansbery and her son-in-law Robert Gustafson.
Survivors include her daughters Norma Gustafson of Nixa, MO., Lois (Loren) Schmitz of Cedar Rapids, IA, her sons Donald (Marilou)Stansbery of Florissant, MO, and Gary (Lynn) Stansbery of Cedar Rapids, IA, her sister Mary Bradfield of Bloomfield, IA, her brother Rex (Elouise) Syfert of Keosauqua, IA, her 8 grandchildren Karolyn Swender, Karla (Mike) Ray, Lester (Jill) Schmitz, Leo (Sharon) Schmitz, Lorie Schmitz, Jennifer (Fritz) Hegman, Don (Stacy) Stansbery and estranged granddaughter Kathy Abben. She is also survived by her 9 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held at 10 am at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016. Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, following the visitation, with burial following the services.
