Other than a few dates, not much is known of Daniel D. Edy, who was born on February 10, 1809, in Boston, Norfolk County, Upper Canada, to Omri Edy and Margaret "Polly" Glover.

Daniel married Mary Ann Matthews on April 20, 1831, in Brantford, Ontario. They had seven children: William Daniel Edy (1832-1916); Alzina Minerva Edy (1834-1913); Maria Jane Haviland (Edy) (1838-1916); J.N (James) Newbury Edy (1843-1890); Paulina Ann Battye (Edy) (1845-1873); Silvinia H Haight (Edy) (1845-1921); and Eliza Ophelia Harpin (Edy) (1850-?).

On Jan. 6, 1851 he and his wife purchased 100 acres at the E 1/2 of lot 24, con 4 (Townsend twp), for 250 pounds.

At the time of the 1852 Census he is listed as a labourer, Methodist, and raising his family in Townsend Township, Norfolk County.

Notes left from previous family notes state Daniel died March 18, 1867, and is buried in an unmarked plot at Oakland Cemetery (except for the small monument shown in the image). Written by G. P. MacKay (More info about Daniel Edy at WikiTree.)
