Michael C. Posey, Sr., 64, of Lithia Springs, died early Wednesday, May 5, 2010 following a long illness.
Born January 13, 1946, in West Point, to Clyde (Dollar) and Thomas Posey, he married Vicki L. Doss on September 13, 2003.
Employed at New Coat Painting as a field superintendent he retired after 20 years. He was a member of the Painters Union. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he had served with the Air Force for four years. He was a part of the family of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Douglasville.
In addition to his wife, Vicki he is survived by his son, Craig (Nicole) Posey of Durham, NC, a daughter, Allison (Chris) Ryan of Smyrna, a step-daughter, Brandi (Doug) Shaw of Dallas, and four step-sons, Ryan (Joy) Hardy of Douglasville, David McElroy of TX, Daniel McElroy of Georgia, and Derrick (Carey) McElroy of Roswell; and 8 grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Mary Jones of Bryan, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-parents and father-in-law, Charles M. Jones of Bryan, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Bovingdon officiating. Interment will be Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Brown Cemetery in Bryan, Ohio. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Michael Craig Posey, Sr. may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Wellstar Tranquility Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
