For nearly 20 years, she was a volunteer at Mercy Place Clinic and Forgotten Harvest foodbank in Pontiac contributing more than 19,000 hours of valued service. Mrs Goff was the daughter of Albert and Minnie Chesley, and sister of Albert, Jr.(Doris) and Paul (Annabelle) Chesley of California, who preceded her in death. Married February 5, 1944, she celebrated 52 years of marriage to Kenneth Goff. She is the mother of Kenneth H. Goff, Jr. (Marilyn) of Plymouth, MI, Richard A. Goff (Trudie) of Herndon, VA and Bradley J. Goff (Kathy) of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Mrs. Goff was a lifelong active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Waterford Township, MI. She was a golfer, avid tennis player and past president of the Bloomfield Surf Club. Grandmother of nine girls, Kimberly, Kristin, Rebecca, Erin, Stephanie, Samantha, Kellie, Emily and Lydia. “Cookie Grandma’s” oatmeal and chocolate chip recipes, were legendary. Mrs. Goff also was the great-grandmother of four girls and two boys. An expert seamstress, Mrs. Goff enjoyed making outfits for the girls and their dolls. During the Second World War, she was a Red Cross volunteer; later a Cub Scout den mother; and donated her time gardening for the Colberry Hills Association; among other civic-minded endeavors. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford. Rev. Dr. James E. Bolin, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, 9:00 a.m until time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, Mercy Place Clinic, or Forgotten Harvest. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
