Catherine R. VanArsdale, 84 years of age, of Grayslake, Illinois, passed away in Grayslake on November 26, 2013. She was born April 1, 1929, to Patrick and Winifrid Boyle. She grew up on a farm in Hitchcock County, Nebraska, attended a one-room country grade school and graduated from Stratton High School, Stratton, Nebraska, in 1945. She attended College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and McCook Junior College. She married James VanArsdale in 1956 and became a homemaker. Four children came from this union, two girls and two boys. After college she became a grade school teacher in McCook, Nebraska. She then worked in reservations for United Airlines in Denver, Colorado. She was a member of Catholic churches in various cities where she lived.

Survivors include her husband, James VanArsdale; children, Donald VanArsdale, Elizabeth VanArsdale, Janet VanArsdale, Hugh VanArsdale and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Boyle.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.
