Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15th at the First United Methodist Church in Merkel with Pastor Rhonda Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Jane was born May 27, 1936 in Merkel to B.M. and Carrie Tipton. She attended schools in Merkel and graduated from high school in 1954. In 1955, she married Thomas Watson in Merkel. They lived several years in Houma, LA and Grand Isle, LA before returning to Merkel.
Jane owned and operated Tipton Antiques for several years. She was active in the First United Methodist Church and community activities including the Fortnightly Study Club and the Birthday Girls. She loved her Lord, flowers, birds, crafty things, and old glassware.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Watson of Merkel; two sisters, Jo-Marvaryn Reeves of San Antonio and Johnnie Scott of Rising Star; three sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Smith of Abilene, Joyce Vancil of Mineola and Patsy Smith of Thoreau, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Merkel Nursing Center and Hendrick Hospice for their special care and thoughtfulness. We are so glad we chose you to care for Jane.
