Jay O. Sawyer 67. well known farmer of Scriba Corners, died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a brief illness. Born in Watertown Feb. 4, 1880 son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sawyer, he operated a farm in the Barnes Corners area for many years. He moved to Scriba about five years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Kingsley Sawyer; Six daughters Mrs. Bernard (Alice) Baxter, Scriba; Mrs. Elsie M. McCourt, Rome. Mrs. Floyd (Eunice) Bourgerious, Cleveland, N. Y.; Mrs. Willard (Hilda) Waite, Barnes Corners; Mrs. Merle (Iceleen) Caster, Rodman, and Miss Vena Sawyer, Watertown. Five sons Lester Sawyer of Spray, NC; Wilson, Ivan and Jay Jr. Sawyer of Scriba. Two Sisters Mrs. Howard (Alice) Bush and Mrs. Ernest (Emma) Soule of Watertown and 20 grandchildren. Funeral will be held at the Newton M. Coe Funeral Home in Lycoming friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Burial will be in Barnes Corners Cemetery.
