Beersheba, born in North Carolina, was the daughter of Arthur Whitehead and Patience Newsom. After marrying William Cobb St, they moved to Sullivan County, Tennessee and produced a large family. Their union started the Georgia Cobb's, the Mississippi Cobb's and the Tennessee Cobb's. In fact, there were so many of them that it is sometimes hard to untangle the branches of the family tree.
