Owen Bennie Holcomb, 81 passed away April 10, 2016 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN. He was the son of Archie Bennie Holcomb and Fannie Lou Cathey Holcomb. He was formerly a Chief Warrant Officer MP Unit Memphis Tennessee National Guard. A 1956 graduate from the Memphis Police Academy, he served 29 years with Memphis Police Department with stints as an original member of the Emergency Squad (Now Tact Squad), XO East Precinct, XO West Precinct, Commander Special Services, Acting commander North Precinct. He was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. After retirement he assumed the position of Director Investigative Services Tennessee Department of Human Services and also was Corporate Director of Fire Safety and Security for HCA hospitals. He also served as the Wilson County Tennessee Constable. His final retirement was that of Director of Security for the Ryman Auditorium and Grand Ole Opry, where he was well loved by many county music stars. He was a member of Harvey-Freeman Masonic Lodge in Mt. Juliet, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Janie Carol Holcomb. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Holcomb; sons, Timothy (Lee) Holcomb, Wayne (Kathy)Holcomb, Carlos (Christina) Holcomb, Jason (Kris) Holcomb and Michael (Kerstin) Holcomb; brother, Bobby Holcomb and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive guest for the sharing of stories, refreshments and memories on Thursday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, services will be conducted Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home with interment to follow at Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush, TN.
