From Sullivan Funeral Home Website:

Francis Joseph Mello of North Easton passed away on November 6, 2015 after 92 years of embracing life’s joys each and every day. “Frank” grew up in Cambridge, one of seven children born to Portuguese immigrant parents: brothers Edward of S. Hadley, Raymond of Lowell and deceased siblings Mary, Alfred, Theresa and Elvita.

He was a member of that Greatest Generation, serving as a World War II Merchant Marine naval gunner. His wartime experiences brought him a continuing concern for those less fortunate, lifelong friendships with shipmates, and a vast library of funny stories which he was always fond of telling.

Frank is survived by his wife, Wilma G. (Patts) Mello, to whom he was thoroughly devoted for 68 years. They ultimately settled in Pembroke where they lived for 45 years. Family was central to everything he did. His love and enthusiasm were infectious, and the entire family adored him for it: son Bill and daughter-in-law Liz of Milford; daughters Pam of N. Easton and Donna of Braintree; and grandchildren Lynne, Julie, Meredith, Gregg, Jeffrey and their spouses. His great grandchildren Olivia, Michael, Mark, Nayeli, Matthew, Nina, Braeden, and Maxine will dearly miss their Grampy as will his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Frank loved people, loved life and loved to laugh. He enjoyed a good cigar, a well-made martini, a lively game of cards, and following his beloved Red Sox. He was also a very spiritual man and served for many years as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Frank had a long and successful career in the credit and collections industry. For many years he managed credit for the Sheraton Hotel chain. Later, he founded and managed his own agency, Customer Adjustments Inc.

Family and friends are invited to share a lifetime of joyous memories during visiting hours on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm and Wednesday morning from 9:30am at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Hanover. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Thecla’s Church in Pembroke followed by burial at Pembroke Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Frank’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
