Marjorie Ruth Thomas, 89, of Brazil, passed away April 12, 2016, at Cloverleaf Healthcare, in Knightsville. Marjorie was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Brazil, the daughter of James and Lola (Love) Smith.
She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1944. Marjorie attended business school for a period of time before becoming a stenographer and court reporter for Judge Stewart.
She also worked as a secretary for several local attorneys and for Mayor Dave Hunter, additionally Marjorie served as the Clay County Clerk for two terms.
Marjorie was a member of First Christian Church and the YMCA Silver Sneakers, in Brazil. She enjoyed attending the retired courthouse employees luncheons, volunteering at St. Vincent Clay Hospital Gift Shop, working outside and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Eugene "Gene" Thomas, whom she married Feb. 12, 1949.
