RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Douglas W. Fleek, 70, of Ridgeley, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, in the nursing home at the VA Hospital, Martinsburg. Born Dec. 12, 1939, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Enoch W. Fleek and Marian (Smith) Fleek McLaughlin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Fleek) Shanholtz Robinette; brother-in-law, Kenneth Eugene Collins; stepfather, Roy E. McLauglin; and a niece, Terri Lynn Collins. Douglas was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was formerly employed at B & O Railroad as yardmaster and he retired in 1999 as the owner/operator of AOK Enterprises. Mr. Fleek had served on the Board of Trustees at Grace Memorial Community Church and on the Town Council of Ridgeley for six years. He was a member of Cumberland Elks Lodge 63 where he was Past exalted ruler. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 136, Ridgeley and the V.F.W. Post 6452, Ridgeley. Doug will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor which will be sadly missed by family and friends. Surviving are his son, Eric D. Fleek Sr., Cumberland; daughter, Ranee Y. Fleek, Cumberland; sister, Jacqueline Collins, Cumberland; brothers, Ronald W. Fleek and Roger McLaughlin, Cumberland; grandson, Eric D. Fleek Jr.; and two great-granddaughters. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Diehl officiating. Interment will be held in Eckhart Cemetery, Eckhart, Md.
