A funeral for Wilbur Alpheus Wellborn of St. Helens will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of St. Helens. He died of causes related to age Monday in a Portland hospital. Mr. Wellborn was 92. He was born Sept. 17, 1900, in Portland. A longtime resident of St. Helens, Mr. Wellborn worked at the St. Helens Post Office for 40 years until his retirement as an assistant postmaster in 1962. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Helens. Survivors include his son, Virgil of Warren; special friend, Rose Valpiani of St. Helens; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. Entombment will be in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum. The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or to the Masonic & Eastern Star Home in Forest Grove.
