COMMERCE, Okla. - Burnittia Elizabeth Turner, 86, of Commerce, died Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Eastwood Manor Nursing Center after an illness.
Mrs. Turner was born August 3, 1916, in New Orleans, La. She was raised by her foster parents, Elmer and Forna Miller. She has lived in Commerce most of her life.
Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce, where she was a children's Sunday School teacher for 53 years.
Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth O. Turner; granddaughter, Bobbi June Sills; great-grandson, Delano Shouse; daughter-in-law, Patsy Turner; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives, Robert Lee and Judy Turner of Sperry, Okla., Kenneth William (Bill) and Pat Turner of Commerce and Harley and Wanda Turner of Miami, Okla.; one daughter, Annette Crosby and husband, Phil, of Commerce; two sisters, Elizabeth (Babe) Smith of Commerce and Claudius Conley of Lamont, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Billie Wheeler of Tulsa, Okla., Jimmy Turner of Colorado Springs, Colo., Valorie and Mark McCammon of Pryor, Okla., Regina and Rick Snyder of Poteau, Okla., Lorri and Dennis Manning of Commerce, Julie East of Tiawah, Okla., Karen and Mike Meier of Baxter Springs, Kan., Cary and Willie Ng of Miami, Amy Turner of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Beth Turner of Oklahoma City; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, in the First Baptist Church in Commerce. Rev. Billy Bissell will officiate. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.
