Doris Reinhardt of Gruver, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 72 years.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we mourn the loss of Doris Reinhardt, beloved wife of Kenneth Reinhardt, and loving mother to Vicky (Frank) Huntley, Kaylynn (Gene) Wilson, Marilyn (Kevin) Moore, William (Carole) Reinhardt, Kathryn (Rick) Johnson, Caryle (Doug) Hansen and Melissa (Dan) Lutat.

Doris was born to (Reverend) Omar and Clara Allison in Des Moines, Iowa, on Mary 18th, 1932, and attended Dolliver High School. She entered a family and farming partnership with Kenneth on May 15th, 1948, when they were wed in Jackson, Minnesota. Her legacy grew from her love for Kenneth and sharing the hardships of breaking the ground, working the fields and seeing the harvest through by his side. As she turned to domestic pursuits, she earned a degree in interior design, which figured prominently as her family became the centerpiece of her life. From morning coffees, to hours of playing cars with her family and friends, she is remembered for her love of cooking – particularly apple pies for her son-in-law, Gene – “Just perfect.” Her home was always abuzz with activity and no stranger to a warm hug, a hot meal and good company. Her vibrancy brightened the aisles for several years at Wal-Mart in Spirit Lake, and reinforced that her heart was firm in family and fiercely patriotic.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, LaCrecia, grandson Jason, and two brothers, Vincent and Harold. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Allison, and three sisters, Elaine Dahl, Francis Davis, and Anna Landstrom.

Her rich legacy continues to grow through 21 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. (Sentinel, Fairmont, MN, March 9, 2005)
