Agnes Lavell Fry-Turner, 87 of Michigan City, Indiana, departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 16, 2016, at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Mt. Zion MBC, with the Rev. Stanley Mason officiating. Burial to follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the church until the time of service.

Agnes was born on March 23, 1928, in Durant, Mississippi to the late Ben and Eva Green. She relocated to Michigan City, Indiana, in 1948. Here, she met Walter Fry Sr. and on August 26, 1950, they were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2005.

Agnes first worked at Eastport Laundry in Michigan City. In 1969, she became employed at St. Anthony’s Hospital as a Central Supply Technician. She retired in 1990 after 21 years of service. She was a foster parent for nine years after retirement.

Agnes was a faithful member of Mt. Zion MBC for more than 50 years until she fell ill. She served as a choir member and on the Mothers’ Board. Agnes loved to crochet and knit. She also loved baking and spending time with her family.

After the passing of her husband, Agnes found love again and, on July 3, 2010, she married Charles Turner.

Agnes leaves to cherish her memories, husband Charles Turner, Michigan City, Indiana; her devoted daughter, Corliss Fry-Cooper and beloved son, Walter (Vernessa), Fry Jr. both of Michigan City, Indiana; one sister, Wardine Oda of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren: Fredrick “Ricky” (April) Richards of Glendale, Arizona, Catrina (Richard) Fry-Wilson, Vanessa Fry, Fannie Cooper, Crystal Fry and Kaylyn Fry, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; special granddaughter, LaQuita Johnson of Michigan City, Indiana; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; cousins, Fern Lockhart and Evelyn Major; loving nephew, Jerry Wallace and loving niece, Cynthia Oda; and special friend, Mary Williams.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Elma I. Randolph; daughter-in-law Linda C. Fry.

Mom/Grandma, you were a strong force in our lives. We love you and you will be greatly missed.
