John Gordan "PaPaw" Shirkey, 68, of Culloden passed on January 29, 2014. John was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Allen "Joe" and Edith (Woodard) Shirkey, grandson; Brent Scott Shirkey, infant brother: Richard Eugene, infant sister; Nina Ruth and sister; Mary E. Shirkey

John left behind the love of his life, best friend, and wife, Donetta Powers Shirkey (married 23,Feb.1968 Cabell Co.), two sons, Brent (Suzanne), of Barboursville, and Brian (Angi), of Richmond, VA, six adored grandchildren, Kerrington, Riley, Bryson, Jake, Hunter, and Bentley, brothers, George, Charles, Frank, David, and Aaron (Bud), and sisters, Carolynn Mywhrould, Sharon Clagg, Nancy Meadows, Dottie Arbaugh, and Flossie Adkins, along with a host of family and friends.

John was an employee for 25 years at the Piggly Wiggly in Milton as the Stock/Inventory Manager. John attended First Baptist Church of Hurricane. John especially loved spending his time at ball fields watching his grandchildren, as well as hunting with family and friends.

In his passing, John gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, with memorial services to follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Culloden Cemetery.
