By the time baby Clarence was born, he had already returned to his Creator. His birth, rather than a day of joy, was a time of sorrow for the family who had awaited
his birth. His grieving father and mother, Clarence Gethen and Barbara Helen Williams, suffered the lonely sadness of empty arms.

In addition to his parents, little Clarence was survived by his brother, Conwell "Ted", his paternal grandparents, Lewis R. and Catherine Poff Williams, his maternal grandmother, Hattie Butts Eberbaugh Mull, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Little Gethen was laid to rest near his maternal great-grandparents, Archibald D. and Amanda M. Butts.

Nearly seven years later, another newborn boy would be named Clarence in honour of his father and this, his "big brother".

"Allow the little children, and do not forbid them to come to Me, for I do always welcome the children, and those of you who want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven must first become as these little ones who come to Me." --Christ
