U.S. Navy Veteran, WORLD WAR II

Mr. John Wesley Eason "Buddy" died Sunday, March 1st 2009, at Memorial Health University in Savannah, GA, he was 84.

Mr. Eason was born to John and Ruth Cowart Eason on March 15th 1924 in Savannah, GA .

He joined the US Navy at the age of 17 to serve his country in WORLD WAR II. He participated in Naval Operations at Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion and finished his tour of duty in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Eason was Honorably Discharged December 1, 1945, and later served in the Merchant Marines for four years. He returned home to marry this beloved wife, Ann Harvey Eason.

He retired from work with the City of Savannah after 25 years.

Mr. Eason was a local history buff, studying the Indians that were native to this area, as well as the Civil War Battles that took place here.

He loved to "Treasure Hunt" with his metal detector, making many interesting finds. He also loved to fish. Mr. Eason was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years.
