Death of Capt. Carey.

Capt. Alexander Carey, one of the best government pilots on the Missouri river, died at his residence in this city yesterday morning. He was 57 years old and leaves a wife and several children. Capt. Carey had been employed by the government as a pilot for many years and was considered one of the best men on the river. He was a very quiet man, but easy to approach, and was well liked by every one. As a careful pilot he had no superiors. His death has caused general regret, not only among the government officials and employees, but among the many warm friends of the captain in this city.

Funeral services will be conducted at the family residence, East High street, at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon by Rev. J.N. Huggins f the Methodist Episcopal church (South), and the remains will be buried in the city cemetery.
