Robert Horace Goff, 71, of Sault Ste. Marie, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2016, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1944, to Horace and Alma (nee Davis) Goff in Suffern, NY.

Mr. Goff was graduated from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, NY. He continued his education at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and also played football.

He married Melissa Welch June 29, 1985 in Hurley, NY.
Mr. Goff recently had become involved with politics. He was the area coordinator for the Ted Cruz Campaign in Chippewa County.

He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed being helpful to others. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was very knowledgeable about football, and he loved to talk about anything relating to the sport.Known to many people as "Coach," he bragged about being on the football field since he was 10 years old. He coached hundreds of athletes, and led his 1974 Monroe-Woodbury football team to win the state championship in 1985, his Messalonskee High School track team came in second place in the state finals. Mr. Goff's favorite athletes to coach, on and off the field,were his 3 sons and 4 daughters. Over the past few years, he had loved reconnecting with many former students and athletes and reliving his glory days through them.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa; seven children and their families, Rebecca Goff of Maine, Brian Goff of Florida, Robyn and Shannon Goff-Saskaloo of Maine, Colleen and Caleb Rader of Pickford, Joshua Goff of Colorado, Megan and Joshua Bleiler of Wisconsin.

Mr. Goff was preceded in death by his father, a staff sergeant in the United States my who was killed in action during WWII.

Services were Friday, February 19, at 11:30am at Fundamental Baptist Church in Kinross with Pastor Tim Rader officiating. Visitation was from 10am to time of the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to camp Canaanland to be used for camper scholarships.

C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie assisted the family with arrangements.
