"Harold G. Burman (1935), a retired professor of chemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington, died on May 23. Dr. Burman was the author of the college-level textbook, Principles of General Chemistry. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a big supporter of children and youth."

Dr. Burman received his B.S. from Dakota Wesleyan (1931) and his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University (1935). He taught at several colleges and universities, i.e., University of Texas - Arlington, Southwest Texas State Teachers College, et al.
Dr. Burman and his wife, Lucile Martha Vroman, had three children.

HAROLD G. BURMAN, 91, May 23 in Arlington. Dr. Burman, a retired professor of chemistry, was born in Sucre, Bolivia, to missionary parents. He came to the United States with his family in 1913 on a banana boat through the newly opened Panama Canal. Dr. Burman earned his Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University and came to UTA in 1944, when the school was known as North Texas Agricultural College, and taught until his retirement in 1975. He served in leadership positions at the Wesley Foundation Methodist Student Center and the Kiwanis Circle K at UTA. He was the author of Principles of General Chemistry, a college textbook.

1) Eunice Alfrida (Burman) McConaghy [b: 1908 (La Paz, Bolivia), d. 1998]
2) Christine (Burman) Dickinson [b: 1914 (Nashville, TN), d. 1976 (Arizona)]
3) Helen Lucinda (Burman) Morris (b. 1912, d. 1990)
