The death of George W. Saltmarsh, one of Ithaca’s oldest residents, occurred last evening about 9:30 o’clock at his home in No. 208 East Mill street. Mr. Saltmarsh had been in failing health for several years past and his death occurred exactly two weeks after that of Mrs. Saltmarsh.
He was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire, 80 years ago and when a boy moved with his parents to Dryden. There he was married to Mrs. Saltmarsh and they moved to this city 60 years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lewis A. Baker, of Elgin, Ill., and Mrs. Henry H. Westinghouse, of New York.
The funeral will be held tomorrow morning from his late home. The Rev. Robert T. Jones, D.D., of the First Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Burial will be made in East Lawn.
