Ronald L. Hubbard, 72, of Washington Township, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home.

Born November 5, 1943 in Chattaroy, West Virginia, he was a son of the late John Sherman Hubbard Sr. & Evie America (Mattox) Hubbard.

Ronald lived in Washington Township for the last 52 years, and graduated from Penn State New Kensington with an Associate’s Degree in Welding Engineering. He worked as a welder for Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 27 years, retiring in 2014. Ronald was a member of the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, a former Director of the Roaring Run Watershed Association, and was involved with Boy Scouts as a past Scout Master of Troop #532, Past Cub Master of Troop #531, and former District Commissioner.

He enjoyed gardening, fly fishing, and working on the trail. But he most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his siblings, Elsie Mae Preece, Ruth Ann Stepp Pratt, Evelyn Lou Neal Croff, Helen Virginia Stepp Bowser, John Sherman Hubbard, Jr., Lillian Alene Diamond, Dorothy Irene Browning, and William Donald Hubbard.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine R. (Deibler) Hubbard; children, Scott M. (Cindi) Hubbard of Washington Township, Amanda L. Hubbard of Vandergrift; grandchildren, C. Manus McManus, Declan J. McManus; step grandchildren, Kayla & Dylan Aldous; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, 401 1st St. Apollo, PA on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lea Austin officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Apollo, PA.
