Bennett, Lulu had five children of which three survived beyond infancy. In her marriage with Michael Shreenan, Lulu had two more children. The newspaper was her source of communication with the outside world. Her hearing loss really impaired her interaction with others. In her last years she suffered a stroke, which left her legs useless. She was bedridden for one year and died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Her granddaughter Maureen Correo remembered her fondly: “Grandma Bennett Shreenan was an encouragement for whatever interests her family had."
