OBITUARY :
PAUL HEEFNER STEVENSON, 79, of Morgantown, WV, died on April 12, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Born April 30, 1936 in Waynesboro, PA, Paul was the eldest of Paul and Kathryn (Heefner) Stevenson's three sons. He returns home now to rest beside his loving parents and brothers Barry and Bruce who were his dearest friends.

Paul graduated as president of the Washington Township High School class of 1954. One of his great joys was planning the class's annual reunion, held without fail for 61 years. He graduated in 1959 from Penn State with a B.S. in English and Art Education. From 1959 to 1962, Paul served in the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Knox.

Paul and Susan Kay Salyers Stevenson were married in August 1971. It was an occasion Paul marked on the 7th day of every subsequent month, prompting Sue's years-long struggle with the storage challenge posed by hundreds of cards.

In 2006, Paul retired as Director of WVU Printing Services. He'd previously led WVU's graphic design department, and was a particularly talented pen and ink artist. Since retirement, he devoted his time to interests too numerous to list. History was a specific passion, especially the Civil War, and he was a member of and newsletter editor for the West Virginia Mason-Dixon Round Table and Ledger. He was also a 25-year Cheat Lake Lions Club member. And, of course, there was his Pittsburgh Pirates obsession. But nothing in retirement compared to his commitment to following the high school sports adventures of his beloved grandson, Kaleb Jennings, or, in summer, tending to his tomato plants with his granddaughter, Jadyn Wilson.

Paul also is survived by two daughters, Amy (Brent) Stevenson-Mayfield and Rachel (JD) Wilson, who always assumed their father was invincible. Paul cherished family events, regaling his cousins, nieces, and nephews with his favorite stories.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Welty Church of the Brethren, 13465 Greensburg Road, Smithsburg, MD. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold, MD.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Saturday morning, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cheat Lake Lions Club, 108 Solar Dr., Morgantown, WV 26500 or Welty Church of the Brethren, 13465 Greensburg Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
