Ruby Lee Chambers 96 went home to be with her Lord on April 9, 2016, after a month long battle with pneumonia. As per her requests, she has been cremated and no memorial service will be held.

Ruby was the second child of Ollie D. Chambers and Sally Belle Qualls Chambers; she was born on March 21, 1920 in Sims, Arkansas.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, Ollie Chambers and Sally Belle Chambers and sister Anna Chambers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby leaves behind son, Wendell Chambers of Roswell, sisters Jewel Ratliff of Las Cruces, NM, Inez Schuessler of Los Lunas, NM and Sue Chambers of Roswell; nieces, Beverly Morrell of San Antonio, TX, and Ballerie Schuessler of Belen, NM and nephews, Danny Ratliff of Las Cruces, NM and Don Ratliff of New Jersey.

Ruby was employed by C. R. Anthony's for over thirty years as a cashier, she was an excellent seamstress, made quilts, wall hangings, beautiful crochet throws and she was a very good artist and was one of the best cooks around. She loved to garden whether it was vegetables or flowers, she won many prizes with her iris in the Iris Society's Flower Show.

Ruby loved the outdoors; she was always a tomboy and loved a challenge. Growing up in Arkansas she did things that most of us can't imagine doing, such as crossing a raging creek on a log to go to school or swinging across a creek on a grape vine. Life was hard growing up, she worked on the farm doing chores that most girls didn't do, she would help plow the fields, cut wood, milk cows and do anything that needed to be done. She could entertain us for hours telling us stories about when she was growing up.

Ruby was a pet lover, we now have two little poodles that our friend Pegi gave us when they were on the way to the Humane Society who have been loved since day one, but Ruby used to raise poodles and did her own grooming until she lost her eye sight to macular degeneration, all of them were loved and lived long lives, after she couldn't see to groom poodles anymore she got two mixed breed puppies from out sister in Los Lunas, Ebony and Koko are waiting for her to join them, they were her babies.

Ruby would like any donations any one would like to make to go to the Roswell Humane Society.
