Born in Watervliet, N.Y. on Oct. 31, 1930, Paul was the son of Edwin J and Kathryn F. (Phillips) Davenport. Paul attended St. Augustine Parish School and graduated from Catholic Central High School, 1949, both in Troy, N.Y.
Paul graduated from Maryknoll College, Glen Ellyn, Ill. in 1953, Maryknoll School of Theology, Maryknoll, N.Y. in 1958 and received an MSW from SUNY-Albany, New York in 1971. He served as a Maryknoll missionary priest in Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador) from 1958 to 1970.
Paul's 30-plus years civil career was spent with the city of Hartford, part of which was spent as director of social services.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Louise D. Davenport, also of West Hartford. Paul also leaves three loving children, their spouses and children: Kathryn Keefrider (Robert) of Avon, Conn. and grandsons Robby, Brendan, Jack and Gavin; Mary Davenport (Min Chong) of Chicago, Ill. and grandsons Nathan and Aidan; and Andrew Davenport (Erin Purtell) of El Portal, Calif. and grandsons Ronan and Finn.
Paul is also survived by his youngest brother, Eugene Peter and wife Iris of Scotia, N.Y. and sisters-in-law Dollie Davenport of Scotia, N.Y. and Jeanne Davenport of Chicago, Ill. Paul also leaves several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Paul was predeceased by siblings, Donald, John, Mary Virginia, Edwin, Elizabeth Anne and William.
Paul was a devoted follower of Christ, a committed husband and a loving and caring father and grandfather.
