Mathew Dean Smith, 47, of Clifton passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home.

He was born April 2, 1969 in Kankakee, the son of George and Carol LaGesse Smith and they survive.

He married Amy Tibbetts in June of 1994 in Texas and she survives in addition to five children, Dalton Smith, Dillon Smith, Lauren Smith, Joshua Smith and Jacob Smith all of Clifton; two brothers, Jeff (Lynn) Smith of Virginia and Wayne (Carolyn) Smith of Chebanse; twin sister, Padge (Barry) Halford of Bourbonnais; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Marilyn Tibbetts of Watseka; sister-in-law, Wendy (Mitchell) Shoemaker of Watseka; four nieces, Krista Kotoun, Kaily Halford, Alexis and Kylee Shoemaker; five nephews, Marek Smith, Mitchell Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jeran Halford and Dane Shoemaker; and many more extended family members.

Mathew was a member of the Catholic Church, the 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Danville Temple and also the Chebanse Masonic Lodge #429. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1987 and then went into the Air Force. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and love for his family and friends.

Per Mathew’s wishes, there will be no services but at his request.
