Mildred Guthmiller was born on May 20, 1939 in Pettibone, N.D. Millie slept in a dresser drawer for the first few weeks of her life. She was the daughter of Peter and Dorothea (Martin) Guthmiller. Millie graduated from Pettibone High School. She went on to Concordia College where she earned her teaching degree. While attending Concordia Millie transferred from the St. Paul campus to the Seward campus where she met her future husband Robert. On August 12, 1961, Millie was united in marriage with Robert Meyer in Pettibone, ND. She taught in a one-room school for several years. In 1977, the couple moved to a farm near Havelock. Millie worked as a waitress at the Cellar in Pocahontas and then at Dublins in Emmetsburg. In 2014, they moved to Pocahontas.
Millie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Church Circle. Millie taught Sunday School at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, sold Mary Kay products and was a Relay for Life Chairman. She was an avid gardener, loved to go shopping and was a wonderful grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter, Sarah (Bill) Hubbell of Pocahontas; sons, Mitch (Beth) Meyer of Idaho Falls, ID; Joel (Sherri) Lennon-Meyer of Fort Dodge and Jeff Meyer of Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren, Brandi and Lindsey Hubbell, Nolan and Mason Meyer, Brogan and Brayden Lennon-Meyer; brother, Gordon (Alene) Guthmiller of CA; sisters, Lorraine (Gary) Asmus of Neosha, MO and Phyllis Denchfield of Jamestown, ND. Millie was preceded in death by her parents.
