Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Midway Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
Nola was born on June 1, 1936 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Woodrow and Geneva Willoughby Owens. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She retired after many years of service from the Scotland County School System as a teacher assistant. She was a faithful member of Midway Presbyterian Church, where she loved singing in the choir and participating in church activities.
She enjoyed making crafts, cooking, gardening and especially spending time with her family at the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Billy R. Owens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Raymond E. Smith of their home, son Woody Smith (Susie) of Laurinburg, daughter Tami Dunn (Danny) of Laurinburg, brother Bobby Owens (Glenda) of Wilmington, sister-in-law Hazel Owens, grandchildren Tara Ritchie of Greenville, Brad Ammons of Charlotte, and two great-grandchildren: Carley Ritchie and Olivia Ritchie
Visitation will be from 10- 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Midway Presbyterian Church.
The family requests that memorial donations be given in her memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
