Lowell V. Collins, 84, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, April 9 after a brief illness, with loved ones by his side.
Born on February 19, 1932 in Ironton, Ohio to Basil and Sarah (Middleton) Collins, he lived in Alliance for most of his life and was a 1951 graduate of Alliance High School.
Lowell was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Alliance Senior Center and served on the Alliance Zoning Board of Appeals.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion.
He was currently retired after 36 years of Fire Service as a Fire Fighter, Chief Arson Investigator and Certified Private Investigator. Lowell was a member of the Alliance Fire Department for 26 years and the Albany Georgia Fire Department for 10 years.
He enjoyed gardening, baseball, playing cards, bowling, trips to Mountaineer Casino, spending time with family and had a recent interest in creative artwork. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Wise of Dallas, GA; two step-daughters; a sister, Lou Clayton of Alliance; three grandchildren, Jennifer Baum of Alliance, Branden Wise of Seattle, WA, and Brittany Wise of Dallas, GA; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, of 54 years, Shirley A. (Obney) Collins whom he married on March 10, 1956 and who passed away on June 15, 2011; his granddaughter, Tiffany Riordan; his parents; two brothers, Dempsey Collins and James Leo Collins; and two sisters, Dora Boshini and Diane Moretti.

Burial, with military honors, will be at Highland Memorial Park.
