Mathew Stephen Conner, 41, passed away peacefully at Ball Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 10, 2016, after a two year battle with cancer.

Matt was born on March 8, 1975, in Bluffton to Mary Jean and Stephen Conner. He attended Monroe Central and Winchester Community Schools, graduating from Winchester High School in 1992.

Matt worked in auto sales and sold parts at NAPA and O’Reiley’s. He worked for USIC and the Utility Locators thru 2010. He became a stay at home dad to his youngest son Eli until he started Kindergarten in the fall of 2015.

Matt spent the last two years volunteering at Wilson and Southside Middle School. During that time, Matt helped his wife coach basketball and swimming before helping the school in any capacity that was needed. He became very close to the students and staff there this year and wanted them to do their best and be successful all the way to the end.

Matt was an avid hunter and sports fan. He couldn’t wait until opening day of deer season. He was a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan and a Colts fan. He got to go to his first Colts game in January of this year.

Matt is survived by his wife of eight years, Kim; two sons, Quinton and Eli; his parents, Stephen and Mary Jean Conner; his brother, Rick Conner, (wife, Jenny); his sister, Krista (Conner) McKinney; his grandmother, Patty Conner; a nephew, two nieces, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Conner, and his aunt, Deborah Moser.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 10450 S. CR 544 E., Selma, IN 47383, with his father and Pastor James Ballenger officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery near Windsor.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary or an hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the family in care of Parson Mortuary
