Crystal E. Thompson, 104, of Gibson City formerly of Paxton, died at 6:16 p.m., April 10, 2015 at Gibson Area Hospital Annex, Gibson City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street Paxton, with Rev. Tom Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Crystal was born May 22, 1911 in Thompsonville, Illinois the daughter of Charles E. and Rachel P. Laymon Downs. She graduated from Thompsonville High School in 1929. She married Richard E. Thompson on November 11, 1932 in Akin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1979.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters; Edith Johnson, Pearl Kingren, Mary Swiney, Hannah Gordon and two brothers; John Downs and Wendell Downs.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Paxton Church of Christ. She was a Civil Service employee for 31 years retiring from Chanute Air Force Base in 1962. Crystal loved to quilt, crochet, knit and was known for doing all types of crafts.
